The 30 Day Book Challenge: Day 6

I’ve thought long and hard about this one and honestly can’t think of one where I was sad at the finish. As I’ve said before, if I’m not happy with a book in the beginning I tend to lay it aside and pick up something more enjoyable. My reading time is valuable and I don’t want to waste my time with something that will make me miserable. I just prefer happy endings.

That being said, I suppose I can say that I sadness comes at the end of certain stories due to the fact that you were enjoying the book so much you didn’t want it to end! There have been many of those. I was particularly sad when I reached the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as I knew it was the end of the series (and I’d have months to wait until the release of the movie). More recently, I was quite sad when I reached the end of Justin Cronin’s The Passage as it would be another couple of years until the second in the trilogy would be published. As far as sad moments within books, well those have been too numerous to mention…
